Chef’s hamburgers

Patties:

  • 1 kg ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp. (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. (5 ml) cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp. (10 ml) salt
  • ½ tsp. (2 ml) pepper
  1. Combine ingredients together in large bowl. Mix well, kneading vigorously.
  2. Shape into 2-cm thick, 10-cm wide patties.

Cooking and assembly:

  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) vegetable oil (if frying patties)
  • Kaiser rolls, cut in half horizontally and toasted
  • Your choice of toppings, such as lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, hot peppers, cheese, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and so on
  1. Grill patties on barbecue (refer to our barbecue tips) or fry them in pan (using the oil) over medium-high heat for 5 minutes each side. Avoid pressing down on patties so they conserve juices.
  2. Place each patty on a roll.
  3. Add your choice of toppings.
